The ceremony took place at the auditorium of the Hotel Irotama in Santa Marta on July 18, 2008.

At this event, the masters of ceremony were Yessica Rodriguez and Nelson Molina.  Jessica starts the second semester of Social Communication and she has worked with Fundehumac since the beginning of 2007.  Nelson is in the 11th grade of High School with Paso a Paso and is a strong candidate to get a scholarship to go to college.  He wants to become a math teacher and has a high IQ.  He has mentored college students in math and physics and in 2006, he competed in a municipal test on the Mathematical Influence on Technology.  He obtained the first place among 34 contenders.  Yesica and Nelson did an excellent job at the podium.

At the ceremony Marta Paba, Anibal Lopez and Katiana Bolivar were congratulated on their graduations.  Anibal and Katiana are teachers in two schools in Santa Marta.  Marta has applied for a scholarship to enter a graduate program in Argentina.

Nara de Horta and Yineth Barrios were welcomed as our new scholars.  Nara studies tourism and Yineth pursues a degree in pharmacology.

After the ceremony MFI scholars performed a rock and roll dance and the children of Paso a Paso interpreted two folk dances.  Jorge Arrieta and his nephew sung a couple of songs.

This ceremony was exceptional and the students as well as all other participants were very excited and enthusiastic, ready to begin the new semester.
